Mistaken For Fraud?

I was supposed to be charged $29.87 from a merchant on 04.19.2008. At about that time, I got a call from Chase, questioning whether or not it was fraud. I misunderstood the call and mistakenly said that it was fraud. So, as a result, that charge was denied and my account was closed. A new account was opened and my balance was transferred. The charge for $29.87 however was not transferred, and when I called and emailed Chase, they said they don’t see that I was charged, possibly because it was reported as fraud and as a result, denied, except I later found out that it was not fraud. Basically, it can’t be transferred because I was not charged. Okay, so I don’t have to pay, that’s good, right? Well, maybe. Nodody had contacted me about the issue in the almost 2 months since it started. Nothing can be done about it on the credit company’s side. Would the merchant re-issue a charge from almost 2 months ago? What do I do, or do I just leave it be?

You should contact the merchant and pay $29.87. They may report it to Credit bureau in the future and it would damage your credit for next 7 years.
